“My name is Rebeca. With ONE C.”
Why is this important to people? Are they so insecure that a significant chunk of their self-identities are lost when someone misspells their name? Do they cease to know who they are?
I don’t think I can misplace myself so easily. Then again, I grew up having multiple names which were constantly butchered by everyone, so maybe I’m less sensitive to it. I guess I’ve long known that I am not my name.
But I guess I see her point. If her boyfriend called her Rebecca, with TWO Cs, then does he really KNOW her? Is he even really dating her?
To all the people who have ever called me Christine, or mispronounced my last name, you’re DEAD to me.
